Green hat embroidered in gold: "BUSH/FARM TEAM" with entwined gold rope. Tag inside: "One Size Fits All" and "Made in Bangladesh" on verso. Soiled on visor, touching signature. Accompanied by ALS: "Brian Litzel", 1p, 8½x11. Litzel was the original owner. In full: "George W. Bush signed this hat for me, the hat that I was wearing, when he was in Iowa campaigning for the 2000 Presidential Election. This was pre-IA Caucus. These hats, to the very best of my knowledge, were only handed out during his Farm visits that week. Maybe even only this particular event." Grease stains touch signature and several words of text. Creased. On January 25, 2000, Texas Governor George Bush won the Iowa Republican Party caucus. He polled 41% of the votes cast compared to 30% for millionaire publisher Steve Forbes. The next nearest contender was talk-show host and former Ambassador Alan Keyes with 14%. Conservative morals campaigner Gary Bauer polled 9%, Arizona Senator John McCain 5% and Utah Senator Orrin Hatch 1%. This was the first step in Bush's successful march to the Republican presidential nomination and the presidency. After working on his father's successful 1988 presidential campaign, George W. Bush assembled the group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. Major league baseball teams get almost all of their players from the minor leagues. The minor league team is referred to as the "farm team" because that's where major leaguers grow in talent so the "Bush Farm Team" on this hat has a dual meaning. Two items.
