GROVER CLEVELAND
Signed during his first year as Governor of New York.
Signature: "Grover Cleveland/Albany Oct 16, 1883" as Governor of New York, 3¾x1¾ card. Cleveland was Mayor of Buffalo when he was elected Governor of New York (1883-1885). When he was elected 22nd U.S. President on November 4, 1884, he was the first Democrat to win the White House since Buchanan in 1856. Cleveland lost reelection in 1888 but became the only former President to be returned to office when he defeated President Benjamin Harrison in 1892. Mounting remnant on verso, no show through. Fine condition.
