Harding), "Herbert Hoover" and "Geo. B. Christian, Jr. Washington, DC", 1p, 10¼x12. Washington, D.C., circa 1921-1923. A page from the guest book of The Ritz-Carlton hotel. HERBERT HOOVER became President WARREN G. HARDING's Secretary of Commerce in 1921. After Harding's sudden death in 1923, Hoover continued in his post through the Coolidge administration until after he was nominated for President at the June 12-15, 1928 Republican National Convention. Ten U.S. Presidents previously served in other Presidents' Cabinets. Six were Secretaries of State and three were Secretaries of War. Hoover was the only former Secretary of Commerce to become President. GEORGE B. CHRISTIAN, JR. was Harding's Personal Secretary. Folds, vertical folds run between "nG" in Warren G, the "t" in Herbert and the "B" in Christian's signature. Lightly shaded overall. Lightly soiled at upper blank right corner which shows a tape repair on verso with light show through. The repair reinforces a ¼-inch tear. SEE IF DOCUMENT 13481 IS FOR SALE RIGHT NOW!!
