WILLIAM McKINLEY
25th President, 1897-1901.
Signature: "Yours Very Truly/W. McKinley Jr./Canton O", 3½x2 card. Stylized edges, notched at upper right and lower left by design. Undated but signed before November 24, 1892, when his father William McKinley, Sr. died at the age of 85; he then dropped the "Jr." from his signature. In 1896 and 1900 McKinley defeated his Democratic opponent, William Jennings Bryan. McKinley was the last Civil War veteran elected President and the first President of the 20th century. He was assassinated in 1901 and was succeeded by his Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt. Fine condition.
