Photograph signed: "Dick Cheney". B/w, 3½x5. After serving as President Ford's Chief of Staff (1975-1977), Dick Cheney represented Wyoming in Congress from 1979-1989, when he resigned to become President George Bush's Secretary of Defense (1989-1993). As Secretary of Defense, he directed Operation Desert Storm in the Gulf War. Cheney was responsible for shaping the future of the U.S. military as the Cold War ended with the fall of Communism. For his leadership in the Gulf War, Secretary Cheney was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George Bush on July 3, 1991. He has been President George W. Bush's Vice President since January 20, 2001. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
