DANNY MURTAUGH
Baseball card for 1960, the year he won the World Series.
Baseball Card signed: "Danny Murtaugh", 2½x3½. His 1960 Topps baseball card as Manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Verso notes he "took the Pirates from 7th place in '57 to 2nd in 1958". While they fell to 4th place in 1959, the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Yankees in seven games to win the 1960 World Series. Danny Murtaugh (1917-1976) managed the Pirates from 1957-1964, 1967 (last 79 games), 1970-1971 and 1973 (last 26 games) to 1976. He won the NL East in 1970, 1974 and 1975 and the World Series in 1971. Murtaugh was 59 when he died of a heart attack on December 2, 1976. Card (#223) has ¾-inch slight horizontal crease across his left arm. Slightly creased corners.
