HEIHACHIRO TOGO
The hero of the Russo-Japanese War.
Scarce signature: "Count Togo", 1p, 4½x7. Togo served in the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895) and commanded the Japanese fleet in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). He directed a successful naval blockade of the Russian base at Port Arthur (February 1904 to January 1905) and won the Battle of Tsushima by annihilating the Russian fleet, May 27-28, 1905. Lightly creased. Folds do not touch signature.
