BOSTON CELTICS
Signed 1988-1989 team basketball, including Bird and Lewis.
Basketball signed: "Larry Bird", "Kevin McHale", "Robert Parrish", "Reggie Lewis", "Chris Ford", "Michael Smith", "Derek Smith", "Joe Kleine", "Ed Pinckney", "Rick Fox", "Kevin Gamble", "Anderson Hunt", "Tommy Van Emerson", "Jim Rodgers" and "John Bagley". Official Spalding Boston Celtics black and green basketball with their leprechaun logo signed with black marking pen. Before the season, Jim Rodgers replaced K.C. Jones as Coach. Their 1988-1989 record was 42-40. After the 1991-1992 season, Larry Bird retired. After Reggie Lewis collapsed during the 1992-1993 playoffs, he was diagnosed with arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat). On July 27, 1993, while shooting baskets at Brandeis University in Boston, the 27-year-old Lewis collapsed and was found by paramedics in complete cardiac arrest. He died shortly thereafter. Fine condition.
