First Day Cover honoring Marconi, pair of 6-cent Progress in Electronics
stamps affixed, postmarked New York, NY, July 10, 1973, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. The
1981 Nobel Prize in Physics was shared by ARTHUR L. SCHAWLOW and NICOLAAS
BLOEMBERGEN "for their contribution to the development of laser
spectroscopy" and KAI SIEGBAHN "for his contribution to the development
of high-resolution electron spectroscopy". Spectroscopy is the study of spectra,
especially experimental observation of optical spectra. Fine condition.
