JEAN J. JUSSERAND. ANS: "Multi pertransibunt et augebitur
scientia/(Bacon)/Jusserand", 1p, 6½x4¼. The Latin
quotation is from one of Francis Bacon's works and means "Many shall pass
through and learning shall be increased". Lightly creased, not at signature,
else fine condition. With his 4x2 card engraved "L'Ambassadeur de
France", upon which Jusserand has written "with sincere
compliments/from". Fine condition. Jusserand served as France's Ambassador to
the United States from 1902-1925. He was awarded the first Pulitzer Prize for
History in 1917 for With Americans of Past and Present Days. Two
items.
