AUDIE MURPHY. Photograph signed: "Audie/Murphy". B/w, 2¼x3½. One of the most decorated American combat soldiers in history, Murphy received battlefield promotions while capturing more medals than any other U.S. soldier in WWII, including the Congressional Medal of Honor. Following the war, he turned to acting in movies, starring in the story of his life, To Hell And Back. Murphy, who died at 46 in an airplane crash, is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Signature damp stained. Mounting traces on verso (no show through), transference of a rubber stamp at right background. Lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
