JOE CRONIN. Partly Printed DS: "Joseph E. Cronin" as
General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, 1p, 8½x11. No
place, 1949 September 6. For payment of $500 cash, Sacramento
assigns the contract of Walter Dropo to the Red Sox. Dropo played 11 games for
Boston in 1949. In 1950, he started on the All-Star team and was chosen Rookie
of the Year with 34 home runs, a .322 average and a league-leading 144 RBI.
Cronin, who won the 1933 pennant as a rookie Manager for Washington before being
traded to the Red Sox, later served two terms as American League President. He
was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1956. Receipt stamps at lower blank area.
Slightly creased, staple holes at upper left corner, else fine condition.
