Document 259265 JACQUELINE KENNEDY Fingerprints on her white door "looks awful". Rare ALS: "Jacqueline Onassis", 2p, 5¼x7½. New York, no date. On her pale blue stationery, "1040 Fifth Avenue" embossed in white, to M. Ortiz. In full: "2 boring details about the apartment. 1) White door from dining room to pantry Could it be painted at Easter with some vinyl finger-print resistant paint? It gets washed about 10 times a day - but anytime its (sic) used - its (sic) covered with fingerprints again - & looks awful in that newly fresh & pretty room. 2) Light for my bed To attach to wall behind the bed curtains. I spoke to M. Ama about this & he said Jansen had a model in Paris. [Here, Mrs. Onassis has sketched her lamp] - It should come out from the wall like a little accordian - then to read by - then be able to be pushed in again - so that it is not visible when not in use. Thank you so much." President Kennedy's widow Jacqueline married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis on October 22, 1968, a month before daughter Caroline's 11th birthday and son John's 8th birthday. Onassis died in 1975, and from 1978 until her death in 1994, Jacqueline Onassis worked as an editor for Doubleday in New York City. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
