THEODORE ROOSEVELT. ALS: "Theodore Roosevelt", 1p, 4½x3
card. Sagamore Hill, 1916 November 11. To Mr. Mimson. In
full: "Yours is such a kind and friendly letter that I must send you this
line of hearty personal thanks." Just four days earlier, President Wilson
was reelected in the closest election since Hayes-Tilden, 277-254 electoral
votes. Republicans were already looking towards 1920. THEODORE ROOSEVELT,
who would only be 62, was a possible candidate. MIMSON's complimentary
letter may have had political content. Date lightly smudged. Fine condition.
