WARREN G. HARDING. TLS: "W G Harding" as U.S.
Senator, 1p, 8x10. United States Senate, Committee on the Philippines,
[Washington], 1919 December 22. To Hon. G.M. Saltzgaber, Commissioner of
Pensions, Washington. In full: "Referring to your letter of November 7th,
relative to pension claim, certificate No. 983728, of Frank Rawson, late of
Company L, 33rd Michigan Infantry, war with Spain, I am enclosing a copy of
affidavit of Dr. Auguste Rhu, in support of this claim. Will you kindly give
this matter your earnest consideration, and oblige". GAYLORD M.
SALTZGABER later served as Commander in Chief of the Grand Army of the
Republic from 1923-1924. WARREN HARDING was Senator from Ohio (1915-1921)
when he was elected President in 1920. In lower right: receipt stamp from
Pension Office dated Dec 23, 1919. In upper right: receipt stamp from Chief's
Desk, Bureau of Pensions, Dec 24, 1919. Soiled. File holes at upper margin.
Folds, not at signature. Lightly creased. Nailhead-size red ink spot touches 2
words.
