Document 166322 INGEMAR JOHANSSON. Wilson "Golden Gloves" Boxing Glove signed: "Ingemar Johansson". Co-signed: "Patric/Johansson" on the inside, above the official AAU tag. Ingemar's signature light but completely legible. Glove is lightly worn. Fabric Wilson label is separated from glove at upper and right edges. Gold binding at lower right edge and at lacing on verso is slightly frayed. Overall, fine condition. Accompanied by TLS: "Patric Johansson", 1p, 6x9. Las Vegas, Nevada, 1992 March 30. In full: "I, Patric Johansson, son of Ingemar Johansson, guarantee that this glove was given to me by my Father, Ingemar Johansson, who used it to win the 1951 Golden Gloves Heavyweight Championship against Ernest Fann in Chicago. I have affixed my signature both to the glove (on the inside) and to this document. I further warrant and guarantee that the signature appearing on the outside of the glove is that of my Father, Ingemar Johansson, who signed it and personally gave it to me. I absolutely warrant and guarantee that I have legally sold this glove to the Gallery of History, Inc., who I understand will offer it for resale. Therefore, Gallery of History has full right and title to this glove and may convey same to their future customer." Fine condition. Patric Johansson has made a minor mistake: his father beat the Golden Gloves winner in the match in which he wore this glove, but Ingemar never won the actual Golden Gloves tournament. In 1951, Ingemar fought Ernest Fann in a special international tournament between Europe and the USA. Ingemar beat Fann, the winner of the 1951 Golden Gloves tournament, by a KO in the third round. The following year, Ingemar competed in the Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland. Thirty years later, Johansson, who had been disqualified for what judges deemed a tepid performance, was presented with the Silver medal by the International Olympic Committee. In 1959, Johansson became the first Swede to win the World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Floyd Patterson with a KO in the third round. Two items. In pedestal format, Gallery of History style: 17x13x1¼ base, 8-inch overall height. (See inside right cover.) SEE IF DOCUMENT 166322 IS FOR SALE RIGHT NOW!!
