LUIS MIGUEL DOMINGUIN. Manuscript LS: "Dominguin", 1p,
8¼x11. Hotel Quito, Quito, Ecuador, 1964 December 20. To John Hunt, The
Saturday Evening Post. In part: "Unfortunately it will not be possible
for me to get to New York as planned. The proximity of the Christmas holidays
and some pressing business in Madrid are the main reason for my canceling this
trip...." Born Luis Miguel Gonzalez Lucas (1926-1995), the Spanish
bullfighter adopted his father's name to gain popularity. His father, Luis
Miguel Dominguin, was a legendary bullfighter and the subject of an 1897
painting by Picasso. The new "Luis Miguel Domingion" became a legend in his
own right in the 1940s and 1950s as he conquered bulls in Spain, Portugal and
South America. Lightly creased. Staple holes and ink mark at upper left
corner. Folds, vertical fold touches end of signature. Overall, fine condition.
